Mill Valley, Tiburon advance to championship games
The Mill Valley 9-10s Little League team advanced to the Section 1 championship game following a 13-3 victory against Davis American at Joe Wagner Field in Larkspur on Monday.
Rory Murphy pitched 4.2 innings and had a pair of hits at the plate to guide Mill Valley to Tuesday’s title game, a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday tilt against Rincon Valley at Joe Wagner. Mill Valley needs to win twice to claim the title and advance. The second game would be Wednesday, if necessary.
Brodie Williams, Levi Weber, Remi Thill and Oscar Karlen all had two hits apiece for Mill Valley.
Tiburon Peninsula Little League also advanced to a Section 1 championship game with a 3-2 victory against Alameda at Luchessi Major Field in Petaluma on Monday.
Tiburon Peninsula moves on to face Rincon Valley in the final, needing two wins to take the title and advance. The first game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Petaluma with another game on Wednesday, if needed.
Grady Graziadei turned a game-ending double play to secure the victory for Tiburon Peninsula, fielding a ground ball at first base, stepping on the bag then throwing home to get the final out at the plate.
Nick Davis pitched 3.2 innings of one-hit ball for Tiburon Peninsula.
